FAQ

Care & Maintenance

How do I clean my marble furniture?

For everyday cleaning, wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth and mild soapy water.

Always dry the surface thoroughly after cleaning to prevent water marks. Avoid abrasive sponges or harsh scrubbing, which can dull the polished finish.

What products should I avoid using on marble?

Avoid acidic cleaners such as vinegar, lemon juice, or bleach. These cleaners can etch and permanently dull the marble surface. Also avoid abrasive powders, rough scrubbing pads, and strong chemical solvents. Always opt for pH-neutral or marble-specific cleaning products.

How do I remove stains from marble?

Act quickly. Blot (don't rub) any spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth. For stubborn stains, a paste of baking soda and water can be gently applied and left to dry before wiping clean. For oil-based stains, a small amount of dish soap on a damp cloth may help. Avoid acidic cleaners. For severe staining, consult a professional stone care specialist.

Can marble get water rings or heat marks?

Yes, Marble is a porous stone and can absorb liquids if left sitting for extended periods. Always use coasters under glasses and cups, and never place very hot items directly on the surface. Protective pads under vases or decorative objects are also recommended to prevent scratching.

Does marble scratch easily?

Marble is harder than most surfaces but can be scratched by sharp objects or abrasive materials. Avoid dragging items across the surface, and place felt pads under decorative objects. Over time, light surface wear adds to the character of the stone, a quality many owners come to love.

Will my marble change appearance over time?

Yes, marble develops a natural patina as it ages, which many people find adds depth and character to the stone. With proper care, your Stine piece will remain beautiful for decades and is designed to become a modern heirloom passed down through generations.

Material & Stone

What is Portuguese marble and why is it special?

Portuguese marble has been prized for centuries for its exceptional density, durability, and natural beauty. Used in royal palaces and iconic sculptures, it is considered among the finest marble in the world. Its rich veining, warm tones, and geological rarity make it a truly premium material for furniture.

Is marble furniture suitable for outdoor use?

We do not recommend using Stine pieces outdoors. Prolonged exposure to rain, temperature changes, and UV light can damage the stone's surface and finish. Our pieces are designed for beautiful, long-lasting use in interior spaces.

Is marble furniture a good long-term investment?

Yes, unlike trend-driven furniture, marble is timeless. Its natural beauty, durability, and rarity mean that well-crafted marble pieces retain their value and aesthetic appeal for generations. Stine pieces are designed to become modern heirlooms, not seasonal purchases.

What is the difference between Rosa Aurora and White Estremoz marble?

Rosa Aurora is a warm, pink-toned marble with soft, flowing veins, ideal for adding warmth and character to an interior. White Estremoz is a purer, crisper stone with lighter coloring and subtler veining, giving it a more classic, understated elegance. Both are quarried in Portugal and are hand-selected by Stine for their quality.

Where exactly are the stones for Stine pieces quarried?

All Stine Rosa Aurora & White Estremoz marble is sourced from Portugal and partly from Spain. This area has been one of the world's leading marble-producing regions for over 2,000 years. Brown Emperador marble is sourced from Spain.

Will my piece look exactly like the one in the photos?

No two marble pieces are identical, this is part of what makes each Stine piece so special.

While the product photos represent the typical character of each stone type, the exact veining, color gradations, and mineral patterns of your specific piece will be unique. We hand-select every slab to ensure exceptional quality and beauty.

Does marble vary in color and veining from piece to piece?

Yes, marble is a natural stone formed over millions of years under heat and pressure, so each block has its own unique mineral composition.

This means no two pieces will ever look exactly the same. The variations in veining, shading, and color are a hallmark of authentic natural stone and add to the individuality of every Stine piece.

What are fissures and inclusions in marble and are they defects?

Fissures, inclusions, and small pits are natural characteristics of marble formed during its geological creation. They are not defects, they are evidence of the stone's authenticity and natural origin.

At Stine, we embrace these qualities as part of the material's inherent beauty and uniqueness.

What is the difference between real marble and faux marble?

Real marble and faux marble serve different purposes. Faux marble (often made from fiberglass or resin) can look similar at first glance but lacks the depth, weight, and natural uniqueness of authentic stone.

Real marble ages beautifully, develops a natural patina over time, and is designed to become an heirloom. All Stine pieces are made from 100% natural stone, nothing else.

How heavy is a marble piece of furniture?

Marble is a dense, heavy material, which contributes to its luxurious feel and stability.

The exact weight depends on the size and thickness of the piece. Please refer to individual product pages for specific dimensions and weight information, and ensure your floor and delivery access can accommodate the weight before ordering.
